Rep. Dyson Helps Pass Stronger Online Protections for Texas Children

Parents deserve a say in what their children download and access online. Paul Dyson helped pass Senate Bill 2420, the App Store Accountability Act, to strengthen parental authority and put safeguards between children and potentially harmful apps.

Governor Greg Abbott signed the bill into law today.

The legislation requires app stores to verify users’ age categories and link minors’ accounts to a parent or guardian. With limited exceptions, it requires parental approval before children can download apps, purchase apps, or make purchases within them.

It also requires clear information about app age ratings and content so parents can make informed decisions.

Paul supported these protections because parents need practical tools to help keep their children safe. Giving families more control over app downloads is an important step toward protecting kids online.

Paul will continue standing for parental authority and stronger accountability from the companies that shape our children’s digital lives.
